#1 Stalker - map to model.

I wanted to turn the map i drew of Stalker to the model.

After figuring out the shape and parameters, i went to make a paper model, starting from the lowest level.

During the process of making, i found out that i'm more interested in shapes of the rooms and how they connect to each other and form closed/indoor space, rather than the upper levels, containing fields and open spaces.

From here, i plan to research the meanings and possibilities of the geometric shapes and symbols.
Also, i will finish the model, including only the bottom level (the rooms of the buildings containing Golden Sphere) inhabiting the shape of a cube - the "ultimate" space - idea came from the film "Cube."

#2 How to - spatial experiment.

What are the boundaries of the Zone? It's a virtual line, that separates two worlds, two realities.
How to trespass this boundary without being seen?
How to become invisible?
There can be many ways to do so, but how can we connect it to spatial design and my research?
What Stalker did in "Roadside Picnic"? How did he get access to the zone? How he became invisible to others?
He was waiting for the nightfall, with only the moon to light the space around him.
How does this connect to spatial design?
The light moulds the space, and organises it. The play of light and shadow creates illusion of the depth and scale of my models of Zone.
I want to experiment with this idea, and see where it can take me.
Will the light help me to create a space or will the light destroy the space?

[I need to create the source of light, to put it somewhere. Create a planar model.
Different ways of creating/sharing the space.]

#1 Sketch of Stalker and future making it into a model

my first sketch by memory
(from unit 3A)

currently working on understanding the space
simplified storyboard
i will try to convert it into a realistic model

Unit 3B: Resolution and Depiction

Unit 3A was finished with the video, which was an outcome from establishing brief and stating the design concept.
So next i decided to start the practical work. Beginning with model making and sketching process.

Below i will be stating the necessary points for my project to develop. (they will be added with time)

• start on modelmaking
• relate to spatial practice and space itself
• location/site, if necessary and is related to
• site experience in drawings
• describe through visual tools

Inspiration:
• Olafur Eliasson "Model for a timeless garden" (2011)
• Thorsten Knaub
• labyrinth from "HP and Goblet of Fire"
• CCTV cameras
• CS and computer shooting games
• interactive projection

#1 Idea to make a interactive space, which is full of traps. The person goes in with a camera attached to him, taking footage. Then it is transferred into a film.

#2 Idea of interactive space with flashing light, making everything seem as if it's a stop frame.

The main focus right now is to create/visualise the space, make a model in scale based on the map.
Then by understanding the space, i can work with what i want to have inside it and who is gonna occupy it.
